A Weekend in Costume: Live from Megacon 2009

Welcome to Megacon 2009!

Every year towards the end of February, The Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida becomes overrun with comic book, comic movie, comic book movie, and sci-fi fans. People of all ages flock to Megacon to see old friends, make new ones and pay homage to the characters that have made their lives more enjoyable, whether onscreen or between the pages of a comic book.

The Convention lasted from Friday, February 27th, until Sunday, March 1st. This blog records the events and costumed crusaders who helped to make my first journey to Megacon more memorable than I ever could have imagined.

For the purposes of my photo-blog, I met with a group of students (Savannah Thomas, Leia Todaro & Brent Thomas) and was able to stay with them all weekend so I could become more involved with the the entire process of becoming a character. In order to see what all the fuss was about, I allowed them to dress me up. With their advice and assistance, I was able to piece together a Catwoman costume, as well as a believable outfit for Lois Lane. In this way, I was able to fully absorb the Megacon experience.
